AI for optimizing indoor visual comfort from facial analysis

Participants: BUILD, ENG & CREATE, TECH

Local visual discomfort in offices due to e.g., low illuminance and direct sunlight is very annoying. Artificial lighting and shading devices controlled according to knowledge about these phenomena can improve the situation. This Bridging project aims at investigating how a face analysis system can evaluate the subjective local visual comfort of occupants based on the video footage of their facial and eyes expressions. Ultimately, this analysis will be used for optimum control of the lighting system and the shading device in an office.
